Genesee County’s Department of Veterans Services and Senior Centers in Genesee County have agreed to a partnership that will continue offering services to senior veterans at six (6) designated Senior Center ‘Veteran Hub Centers.’ In addition to appointments at the department’s main office, seniors will be able to speak with a Veterans Service Officer (VSO) at one of these Veteran Hub Centers by appointment.
Each week, staff from Genesee County’s Department of Veterans Services will be onsite at one designated senior center. Interested senior veterans should contact their local senior center to set an appointment. For those veterans with an emergent need, they should continue to contact the Genesee County’s Department of Veterans Services main office, located in the Genesee County Administration Building.
“I’m excited to continue our partnership with local senior centers to continue helping our senior veterans get the benefits that they deserve,” said Genesee County’s Veterans Service Director Derrick Britton.
This new partnership starts in January 2024.
“This partnership between Genesee County and our local senior centers will continue a long-standing commitment to the veterans and seniors of our county,” said Commissioner Dale Weighill (D – 8 th District).
Weighill continued: “Genesee County residents have long supported both our senior centers and our veterans through dedicated millage funding. I’m excited that this partnership will continue our commitment to making a positive impact for Genesee County.”

Senior Veterans throughout the county. Our Veterans Services Officers (VSOs) provide advocacy, assistance and counsel for all Veterans in the preparation and presentation of benefit claims under the laws administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
