On March 8, 2019, The Links, Incorporated, in collaboration with the International Center of Greater Flint, will host a community event celebrating International Women’s Day. The event will be held at Factory One in downtown Flint from 5:30 – 7 p.m. in celebration of women’s achievements and the quest for gender parity.
International Women’s Day (IWD) has been observed since the early 1900’s and is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. At last year’s Flint celebration, more than 100 women attended the local event. This year, that number is expected to increase as re Genesee county women from various cultural backgrounds are expected to join women in cities across the world in this global celebration. Celebrations will be held throughout the first week of March.
This year, nationally acclaimed film producer and writer, Nicole Bowers Wallace, will be the keynote speaker for the Flint event; the celebration will feature a “flavors of the world” dining experience, international entertainment, a multicultural/multi-generational panel discussion, and networking.
Tickets are $35 per person, and must be purchased in advance. Contact Phyllis at the International Center at 877.3348, or Linda at the Links, Incorporated at 810.423.3956 to obtain tickets.
