The Greater Beecher Business District Association will present the “Dedication and Grand Opening” of the new Beecher Community Center. The new community center will be dedicated to the late Mount Morris Township Supervisor, Larry Foster. The dedication will take place on June 29th, 2023, at 1309 West Coldwater Road in Flint Michigan. The time of the ceremony will be noon. There will be multiple speakers and guests including a Proclamation given by U.S. Representative Dan Kildee and the Mt. Morris Twp. Supervisor Jolena Sims. There will also be music and free lunch, in addition to tours of the building.
Larry Foster was the 1st African American Township supervisor in the history of Genesee County and left an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of the community. Mr. Foster served his country honorably in the U.S. Army and also served his local community as a member of the Beecher Community Schools Board of Education, the Detroit Street Senior Citizens Center and the Hasselbring Senior Citizens Center, among many of his accomplishments. He was a dedicated coach, mentor, teacher and husband. His life touched and affected many children, their families and the community. He is an irreplaceable icon that will always be remembered. He is a legacy.
