Funeral arrangements were recently announced for Councilman Eric Mays, who died at age 65 and was an outspoken leader in the city.
According to the obituary from Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home, Councilman Mays will lie in state at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2120 N. Saginaw St. His body may be viewed there between 12 – 6 p.m. on Friday, March 8. The family will be present between 4-6 p.m. to receive friends.
Rev. Louis H. Mays, Mays’ late father, served as the pastor at Shiloh for 27 years.
Family hour for Councilman Mays starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2024. It will be held at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1851 W. Carpenter Rd.
Funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. on March 9, with Pastor Daniel Moore, officiating.
Councilman Mays is being buried at Interment Sunset Hills Cemetery, located G-4413 Flushing Rd.
Mays died in his place of residence on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2024.
