Adaptive Golf Program To Host 20th Annual Pro-Am Scramble at Rolling Hills Golf Club

Michigan Adaptive Golf will host an 18 hole (par 3 format) scramble at Rolling Hills Golf Club, 3274 Davison Rd., Lapeer, on Friday, September 12.  Shotgun start will be at

9:00 a.m.  Pre-registration required by September 9 and can be made by calling

(810) 342-4345.  Participants may sign up individually, in twosomes, threesomes, or foursomes.  Registration is $45 for area golf professionals and all other participants. This includes 18 holes of golf with cart, hot dog at the turn and awards luncheon.

This scramble is the twentieth annual adaptive pro-am tournament. Everyone is welcome to golf this event.  Golfers with disabilities will have received modifications and adaptive equipment needed to play as independently as possible prior to the event.

The four-person team must include a golfer with a disability and may include: friends, family, community members, and golf pro.  Scramble format will be played on this regular length course, with the tee boxes moved forward to allow for the par 3 format.

Michigan Adaptive golf originated with McLaren Flint.  The program was established to help individuals who are having difficulty beginning or resuming the game of golf as a result of a disability.  Heart problems, joint replacements, visual impairments, spinal cord injury, amputations, and back problems may cause some of the disabilities individuals deal with.  Through the adaptive golf program, modifications can be applied to an individual’s stance, grip, alignment or swing to increase confidence, independence and skill level in their golf game.

For more information or to register, please call Monica Haubenstricker, recreation therapist, at McLaren Flint, (810) 342-4345 (voice mail).
