Flint Police Officers still awaiting incentive bonuses

Written By Jameca Patrick-Singleton
City of Flint Police Officers are still awaiting an incentive bonus that was approved by the Flint City Council in March of this year. In response to a question asked about these funds in the July 11 city council meeting by finance chair and sixth ward council person Tonya Burns, Robert Widgen, CFO for the city, stated that the funds are being held up due to not receiving the proper documentation from the clerk’s office. Inez Brown, the city’s clerk, replied that those documents were signed by her office and sent out. It is unclear where the documents are at this
time.
“It is unfortunate and disappointing that these officers have not been paid these promised bonuses,” said Burns. “At this point I’m happy that the ball is finally rolling on this.”
The incentive bonuses included $7,500 for newly recruited certified police officers and $5,000 for newly recruited officers who had to go through the police academy for training.
