Flint Community Schools selling several empty school buildings

Flint Community Schools is selling or leasing 13 of its vacant buildings. The properties
included for sale are the former elementary school buildings that housed Cook, Dort, Garfield, Johnson, King, Manley, Merrill, Stewart, Washington, Williams and Wilkins. Additionally, the buildings that were once known as Lowell Middle School and Zimmerman Center are also up for sale.
A public walkthrough of the buildings will take place on Saturday, July 16 with Peter Medor, director of operations for Flint Community Schools providing tours and information.
Interested parties have until August 30 to make a bid on the properties, and the district will
consider proposals to sale or lease the individual buildings.
“I’m happy that they made the decision to sell the building” said Denise Timber. who lives near the former Cook Elementary building.
“I hope that whoever takes over the building does something positive for the neighborhood,” Timber added,
