FLINT FOOD SUMMIT TO CELEBRATE LOCAL FOOD LEADERS AND COMMUNITY COLLABORATION

Event coming to Flint Farmers’ Market on September 24

(Flint, Mich.) — The 2025 Flint Food Summit will take place on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, at the Flint Farmers’ Market, bringing together community members, food leaders and organizations committed to strengthening the local food system in Flint and Genesee County.
This year’s theme, “Celebrating Leaders, Growers, Thinkers, Eaters of the Flint & Genesee County Food System,” highlights the diverse voices working to ensure access to healthy, sustainable, and locally sourced food.
The one-day event will feature keynote speaker, Mama Sol, panel discussions, interactive workshops, breakout sessions, and exhibits showcasing local food businesses and organizations. Attendees will also enjoy a variety of delicious, locally sourced food and refreshments.
“The Flint Food Summit is a space where farmers, entrepreneurs, policymakers, educators and neighbors come together to share ideas and build a stronger, more resilient food system,” said Athena McKay, executive director of Flint Innovative Solution and co-chair of the Flint and Genesee Food Policy Council.
She added: “This event is not only about learning, but also about celebrating the ingenuity and leadership within our community.”
The summit is designed for farmers, food entrepreneurs, nonprofits, educators, researchers, policymakers and community members passionate about food access and justice.
