The 12th Annual BBQ Battle at the Flint Farmers’ Market will be proudly presented by Dort Federal Credit Union on Saturday, July 18 from 10 AM to 5 PM. Several PROFESSIONAL BBQ experts from the Flint area are expected to participate. The contestants will be judged on their BBQ ribs by certified, celebrity and guest judges and the winners will be announced at 4:30 p.m.
Those interested in participating must be licensed through the Genesee County Health Department. Applications are available on the market website and in the market office. Participants must be registered to compete by July 8.
The grilling experts will be cooking and selling BBQ favorites throughout the day. LIVE entertainment will be provided by local favorite Genesee Ramblers from 10 AM until 2 PM. There will be plenty of fun for the whole family!
The BBQ Battle will again offer a “try it then buy it” special starting at 11 AM and ending when the samples run out (estimated end time of 12:30 pm). Patrons will pay $5, and be given a chance to try a 1/2 oz. sample of each participating griller’s pulled BBQ pork. Samplers will then be able to cast a people’s choice vote for their favorite pulled pork.
