During the August 28, 2023 meeting, Flint City Council approved $4,150,000 ($4.15 million) in ARPA funds to be used for a variety of home repairs. The funding will be distributed to several different non-profits in the community with the goal of ensuring that residents have easy access to the funding. The agencies include Metro Community Development, Habitat for Humanity and Genesee County Community Action Resource Department all of which will be providing home repairs for residents. Court Street Village will be providing roof repairs.

Residents who attended the meeting requested that council consider allocating more funding for this project.

“This is probably the fourth time we’ve come here and asked you to pass a $16, 000,000 ARPA allotment for home repair and rehabilitation” said city of Flint resident Claire McClinton during public comment.

“We want our voices heard like Ashley Capital (the group that is redeveloping the Buick City site) was heard, and when you ask us where you’re going to get the money from, that an insult. The same place you got the $3.2 million in ARPA dollars to give Ashley Capital, that’s where you get it from”. McClinton added.
