More than 300 guests will visit the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint on Thursday, October 23, 2014 for the 12th Annual Suits & Sauce Dinner  presented by Fathead, LLC; QuickenLoans and Famous Dave’s BBQ. The 7th Annual Patrick McInnis Community Hero Award will be presented to Dr. Nita Kulkarni at this year’s ceremony, When I Grow Up: A Celebration of Opportunity & Achievement. The evening kicks off at 6:00 pm with the meal compliments of Famous Dave’s, a silent auction, and presentations from youth members of the Boys & Girls Clubs.

The Community Hero Award was established in 2008 as a way to recognize an individual or group for a significant investment of time, talent and treasure in youth living in Flint, Michigan.  The award was named in recognition of Fathead CEO and Flint native, Patrick McInnis, whose investment in the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint has directly resulted in a more vibrant and positive organization where area youngsters can learn, play and grow into productive citizens.  Dr. Kulkarni joins other distinguished past award honorees such as Judge Duncan Beagle, Detroit Shock, Tom Izzo, Congressman Dale E. Kildee and Mateen Cleaves.

Dr. Nita Kulkarni is being honored for her dedication and support of the youth at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint and throughout the community.  Dr. Kulkarni is an Obstetrics and Gynecology physician who has been in private practice for fifteen years.  She is married to Dr. Bobby Mukkamala and has two children.  Dr. Kulkarni’s extensive involvement in the community through various organizations involves many programs that focus specifically on women and girls.

At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint, Dr. Kulkarni established a program that encourages young girls to become positive and productive women in society by teaching them life skills that manifest positive choices as they venture towards womanhood as well as inspire them to give back to tomorrow’s generation of young girls, ensuring that they have the same opportunity to make good decisions about their future.  It is a great honor to recognize Dr. Nita Kulkarni as the 2014 Community Hero Award recipient.

The Suits & Sauce Dinner is a key component in the success of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint. This event has helped grow the local organization to include two sites, Averill Avenue and the Haskell Youth Center, to serving more than 3,500 youth per year with more than 1,800 of these youth as registered members.  Boys & Girls Clubs youth members are incorporated into all aspects of the event, giving dinner guests a truly unique opportunity to interact with some of the children they support through their generosity.

QuickenLoans and Fathead LLC, a leading brand in sports and entertainment graphic products, are the official sponsors of the event.  Dinner tickets per individual are $100; table sponsors which seats 7 people are available for $850; various sponsorship opportunities starting at $100 are available, as well.  For more information about the event visit www.bgclubflint.org, e-mailcpeters@bgclubflint.org, or call (810) 249-3452.
