County-Wide Recycle Day Event

Genesee County has announced a county-wide Recycle Day collection event for hard-to-recycle items such as household hazardous waste, electronics, paint, tires, and appliances! The event is coming to Carman-Ainsworth Middle School and the Flint East Water Service Center on Saturday, Sept.15 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The Recycle Day event allows County residents to bring materials in their vehicle to either location during the listed hours. Recycle Day staff will be available to assist attendees in navigating through the event site and to unload items from vehicles. Event organizers are requesting that attendees enter the Carman-Ainsworth Middle School site from Maple Avenue or enter the Flint East Water Service Center site from eastbound Court Street (from Dort Highway).

“This event is a free and convenient way for residents to properly recycle many hard to dispose-of items that can be harmful to the environment,” says Derek Bradshaw, Director-Coordinator of the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission. So far in 2018, approximately 3,000 residents have attended Genesee County Recycle Day events and over 320,000 pounds of waste has been collected.
For more information about the event, please contact the Genesee County Recycle Hotline at (810) 762-7744, email Recycle@co.genesee.mi.us, or visit www.gcmpc.org/recycle-day/. Additional Recycle Day event dates and locations are listed on the website.
