Community invited to join MADE Institute and the Criminal Justice Reform Legislation Coalition to support criminal justice reform in Lansing

Day in Lansing planned for next week bringing together people from across Michigan

(Flint, Mich.)  – The MADE Institute recently announced, “A Day at the Capitol: Rally for Reform,” a pivotal event in their ongoing commitment to justice reform. Community members are invited to join them on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, from 11a.m. – 4 p.m., at the Capitol Lawn in Lansing.

The rally, organized in collaboration with the Criminal Justice Reform Legislation Coalition, aims to amplify our collective demand for change. The change MADE and the Criminal Justice Reform Legislation Coalition is working to change include ending mass incarceration, the promotion of fair sentencing laws, support for reentry programs for formerly incarcerated individuals along with ensuring voting rights for all.

“As we stand united, we send a powerful message to our elected officials: justice cannot wait,”said Leon El-Alamin, Executive Director of MADE.

He added: “In this critical election season, your participation could be the decisive factor in achieving the reforms we desperately need.”

Free transportation is being provided to the event. The buses in Genesee County will be departing from The MADE Institute’s office at the People’s Church located at 503 Garland St, Flint, MI 48503. Additional transportation sites include pick-ups in Ypsilanti, Pontiac, Detroit and Grand Rapids. Anyone needing transportation should register through this link.

MADE reminds the community their presence and voice at this rally are vital. They aim to show our elected officials that criminal justice reform is a priority for the people of Michigan. They believe together, we can drive the changes our legal system desperately needs.

The M.A.D.E. Institute delivers critical services to returning citizens across Genesee County. From providing transitional housing to providing job training, MADE helps individuals start on a new path in life. To date, the organization has helped over 1,000 members of the community through their various programs.
