Classic Super Bowl Ends In A Stunning Finish

Classic Super Bowl Ends In A Stunning Finish

By: Alex LaGrone

Last Sunday New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady connected for four touchdowns passes to take the air out of the Seattle Seahawks secondary to win his fourth Super Bowl.

Brady threw for 328 yards, Julian Edelman had nine receptions and a touchdown, the Patriots defense held on late for a 28-24 victory.

This was one of the most exciting Super Bowls played in the history of the game, with both teams trading lead changes. The scores went back and fourth and was decided in the last few seconds of the contest. This game was the most watched program in TV history; more than 114 million viewers.

Just when it looked like the Patriots were going to fall victim to another fluke play in the Super Bowl when the Seahawks Jermaine Kearse made a sensational catch on his back.

The Patriots Malcomb Butler, who was undrafted, made an incredible interception at the goal line when the Seahawks were on the verge of the game winning score.

But, while the Pats were celebrating a Super Bowl championship, Seahawk fans are left to question why the Seahawks made the decision to throw the football on second down from the 1 yard line?

Instead of handing the ball off to Marshawn Lynch with the game and another ring on the line, Russell Wilson threw the pass and Butler picked if off.

The play call cost the Seahawks a Super Bowl victory. "It's not the right personnel for us to run the football. We sent in our personnel, they sent in a goal line defense" Seattle coach said after the game.

"So on second down, we throw the ball really to kind of waste  a play." Waste a play? Are you serious? Sounds like a bunch of malarkey. Given the negative results everyone can question, debate and analyze what many call the worst play call in football history.

For the Seahawks, hind-sight is 20/20 which means 20/20 is perfect vision; hind means "seeing behind you." So that means that a situation is perfectly clear after it has passed. Run Marshawn Lynch.

Coach Carroll and his staff will be criticized by Seahawk fans and players for the decision not to run Lynch. The frustrations by the players showed when a fight broke out at the end of the game. Or could it be they were just sore losers?

Quarterback Brady was named MVP. It wasn't his best all-around night as his two interceptions hurt his team. When the chips were down and the Pats needed the clutch performance it was Brady's time to deliver yet another Super Bowl championship.

Brady was awarded a brand new red Chevrolet Colorado truck for winning the MVP. He should give the truck to the real Super Bowl hero; Malcomb Butler. If it wasn't for his heads-up play, Brady wouldn't have won the truck anyway. Just saying.
