Hockeytown Cares Community Tour To Visit Flint

Detroit Red Wings Dylan Larkin, Andreas Athanasiou, Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi will be on hand Tuesday, Sept. 10 at the City of Flint Fire Department as part of their Hockeytown Cares Community Tour. Hockeytown Cares expands to four days, donating time and resources to organizations across Michigan leading up to the start of Red Wings Training Camp in Traverse City. The Red Wings appearance is part of a goodwill tour through three cities in Michigan.

Their visit is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. at Flint Fire Station #1, 310 E. Fifth Street.

Their visit will consist of a Red Wing vs. Flint Firefighter street hockey play-off in which the Flint Fire Department will receive sticks and balls to keep for recreational use. The Red Wings players will tour the fire station and interact with the firefighters who will show-off their latest equipment and firefighting skills.

“I am excited to welcome them to Flint and to the Flint Fire Department,” said Mayor Weaver. “Our firefighters work diligently to protect us, so for them to have an opportunity to share the improvements (and upgrades) that we have made and to have a bit of fun is exciting.”

Hockeytown Cares serve as the Red Wings Community Impact Platform with new and unique year-round outreach. This is a rare opportunity to meet and greet a few of the National Hockey League’s brightest and best young stars.
