FLINT, Mich. — The City of Flint is expanding access to essential services for residents by partnering with Consumers Energy to provide an additional local option for residents who need to pay their energy bills in person.
The Flint City Services Center at 4813 Clio Road will soon begin accepting Consumers Energy bill payments providing residents with a convenient location to make payments in person following the planned closure of Consumers Energy’s direct payment office at 3201 E. Court Street.
Consumers Energy has announced that its East Court Street payment office will permanently close following its final day of operation on November 30, 2026.
The Clio Road Service Center will offer residents another local option for making Consumers Energy payments, particularly for residents who prefer or need to pay their bills in person.
The City will announce additional details about the start date, hours of operation and payment process as the service becomes available.
“Our goal is simple: make it easier for Flint residents to access the services they need,” said Flint Mayor Sheldon A. Neeley. “When an existing option becomes unavailable, we have an opportunity to find another way to serve our residents. By bringing Consumers Energy bill payments to our Clio Road Service Center, we are making an important service more accessible and keeping it close to the people who rely on it.”
The Clio Road Service Center was established to expand access to City services for residents on Flint’s north side. The center currently provides access to services including water bill payments and other City services, as well as public health resources.
“This is what putting residents first looks like — meeting people where they are and making government and essential services more accessible,” Neeley said. “We appreciate Consumers Energy for working with the City to help ensure Flint residents continue to have a local, in-person option for paying their energy bills.”
Consumers Energy continues to offer several payment options, including in-person payments at authorized payment locations, online payments, payments through its mobile app and payment by phone.
