City of Flint firefighter dies following fire operation

FLINT, Mich.—A Flint firefighter died today on Saturday, Feb. 25 because of a fire that happened at the Elms Mobile Home Park, at 2801 S. Dort Hwy. The fire occurred at at 2:33 p.m.
The City of Flint released the following statement:
“It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of a Flint firefighter following a fire operation this afternoon. We are withholding his name until all family members have been notified. We offer our deepest condolences to his family and all those who loved him. The flag at Flint City Hall will be lowered to half-staff in his honor.”

“This is a tremendous loss for the Flint Fire Department and the entire city of Flint,” Mayor Sheldon Neeley said. “I ask the Flint community to join us in lifting the family in prayer during this difficult time.”
