FLINT, Mich. — The City of Flint is inviting residents, families and community partners to celebrate the grand reopening of the newly revitalized Haskell Community Center, home of the Flint Police Athletic League (PAL), at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 23, 2026.
For more than a century, Haskell Community Center has served as a cornerstone of Flint’s west side, providing opportunities for recreation, mentorship and community connection. Following extensive improvements, the facility is entering a new chapter as a modernized space dedicated to youth development, neighborhood engagement and positive community programming.
“This investment represents our commitment to creating safe, welcoming spaces where young people can learn, grow, and thrive,” said Mayor Sheldon Neeley. “When we invest in our youth, we invest in the future of our city. The revitalized Haskell Community Center will serve as a place where relationships are built, opportunities are created, and our community comes together.”
The grand reopening celebration will feature family-friendly activities, food, community resources and opportunities for residents to connect with local organizations and partners.
“PAL has always been about building positive relationships between young people, law enforcement and the community,” said Sgt. Jeff Spann, Flint PAL Program Director. “The improvements to Haskell Community Center will help us expand our reach and continue providing programs that empower and inspire Flint’s youth.”
Residents are encouraged to attend and see firsthand how the renewed facility will help support the next generation of Flint leaders.
