Back to the Bricks® oganization raises money for the equivalent of 31,377 meals

On June 18, the Back to the Bricks® organization, alongside their brought to you by sponsor, Shea Automotive and Halo Burger, presented Kara Ross, CEO of the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, a check for $5,229.45. This is the equivalent to 31,377 meals; a much needed donation during these unprecedented times.

On June 13, Back to the Bricks® and General Motors hosted their first ever Road Rally, brought to you by Shea Automotive Group and Halo Burger. Back to the Bricks® felt it was time to get the classic cars out and cruise through Mid-Michigan. Cars began lining up at 7a.m. at the “Brought to you Sponsor” Shea Automotive on Corunna and Linden roads, in Flint. Participants enjoyed the classic sounds of Black-Tie Productions while waiting for the start.

Participants also received a packet that morning with top-secret route details and additional information, without leaving the safety of their vehicle. They departed in small groups every 2-3 minutes from Shea Automotive and ventured out on the 123-mile journey. They traveled through 11 of Mid-Michigan’s most picturesque small towns and cities. The various communities were aware of Road Rally plans, but the itinerary was not publicized to prevent crowds from congregating along the road. Bathrooms and sanitation stations were available at the start, halfway mark and finish line. Participants were encouraged to follow all social distancing guidelines along the way and really did a great job.

The registration fee for the Road Rally was $10 per car, and due to the support of the amazing sponsors all proceeds from this event went to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Car owners were extremely generous and dropped cash donations the morning of into the Food Bank buckets. Because of their generosity Back to the Bricks® organization was able to give more than they initially thought to the much-needed Food Bank.
