Courier launches voter education series

The Flint Courier, in collaboration with the Flint Beat, is launching a voter education series across social media. The project is designed to help North Flint residents better understand their voting rights and their right to participate in free and fair elections.
The project responds to longstanding barriers to civic participation in North Flint, including lower voter participation and limited access to clear, reliable information about how government works and how residents can effectively engage in the democratic process.
The series is made possible thanks to a collaborative mini-grant funded by the Ruth Mott Foundation.
The videos will be shared across social media platforms and will provide accessible, easy-to-understand information aimed at increasing interest, access and agency in the electoral process.
Topics will include voting rights and protections, voter registration, early and absentee voting, Election Day options, what to expect at the polls and answers to frequently asked voting questions.
The first videos in the series will be published on social media beginning Monday, Sept. 7.
