Eye Care for Detroit is evolving into Michigan’s first statewide mobile eye care organization, with plans to expand beyond Detroit to communities across the state
WHAT: Eye Care for Detroit, which operates the city’s first comprehensive mobile eye care service, is bringing its state-of-the-art optometry equipment and licensed eye care professionals to Flint, expanding access to critical vision services, free of charge, for communities that are often underserved.
Founded in 2022 by Dr. Cleamon Moorer, who was legally blind in his 20’s and whose own vision was restored after a charitable organization paid for the cataract surgery his family could not afford, Eye Care For Detroit is on a mission to reach tens of thousands of people across our state who don’t currently have access to the eye care they need.
On Saturday, January 31, Eye Care for Detroit will host “We See You Day” in Flint, giving community members and the public a firsthand look at the barriers many Michiganders face in accessing vision care — and how mobile eye care can help close those gaps.

Eye Care For Detroit’s mobile units are equipped with advanced diagnostic equipment typically found only in traditional clinics, ensuring patients receive the same quality of care they would expect from a brick-and-mortar facility.
The organization is preparing to expand beyond Detroit to build a statewide mobile vision care network called Eye Care for Michigan serving Lansing and other cities.
