Artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming the way scammers operate. Criminals are now using deepfake audio and video to convincingly impersonate people—even breaking into bank accounts. This technology fuels fear, erodes trust, and makes financial fraud harder than ever to detect.
Many individuals, as well as some organizations, such as AARP backs the bipartisan Preventing Deep Fakes Scams Act. The bill would establish a federal task force to examine how AI is being weaponized in financial scams. Bringing together AI experts, industry leaders, and consumer advocates, the panel would work
to stay one step ahead of criminals and protect consumers.
