Community conversation with three powerful voices taking place at Gloria Coles Flint Public Library this Friday

The community is invited to have a vibrant conversation with three powerful voices as they share their perspectives on the transformative power of libraries at 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9. Speakers will include Flint Author Christopher Paul Curtis, along with dynamic young social media influencer/library activist Mychal Threets and high school senior Mari Copeny, AKA “Little Miss Flint.”

They will discuss the impact of books on personal growth and the crucial role of using our voices to inspire change in communities.

This program is funded by a generous grant from the Ben F. Bryer Foundation.

The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library strives to be Flint’s go-to place to learn for life by helping citizens to become lifelong learners.

The library invests most of its resources in the following three priorities.

  • Early Childhood Literacy: helping parents and caregivers prepare children to read, and exposing kids to STEM programming.
  • Digital Learning: filling the technology education gap by exposing students to aspects of computer science, and making technology accessible to the public.
  • Community Hub: The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library wants to provide abundant and welcoming space where people can gather for learning, dialogue or entertainment.

The community is invited to The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library for the May 9 “Community Conversation.”
