Jury convicts Flint man of multiple drug and gun felonies

Faces lengthy prison term for habitual offender status

FLINT – Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said a jury trial concluded on Friday, January 17 with a verdict rendering a Flint man guilty on multiple felony charges.

Waverly Lee Trouser, Jr, 46, was convicted of eight counts including a second offense charge of possession with intent to deliver 50 grams or more but less than 450 grams of fentanyl and cocaine along with seven related gun charges.

According to the testimony given by an expert witness from the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office, the jury was informed that the amount of fentanyl in the defendant’s possession was lethal enough to have killed more than 55,000 individuals.

“Waverly Trouser is well-known to local law enforcement for his repeated criminal activity involving a number of different types of crimes over the years,” said Leyton. “He is a danger to our community and has no doubt destroyed the lives of many individuals and families through his actions. He will now be off our streets and incarcerated in prison for a very long time.”

Prosecutor Leyton credited the hard work of his staff including assistant prosecutor Rachael Greene, who took the case to trial and many others who supported Greene in her efforts. He also commended the work of the office of Genesee County Sheriff Chris Swanson and his GHOST team for the investigation and the apprehension and arrest of the defendant.

Trouser faces a lengthy prison term as a habitual offender when he is sentenced on February 19, 2025.
