Funding will support 2026 Christmas Gift Program for children on Flint’s Eastside
(Flint, Mich.) – Flint Eastside Compassionate Mission (FECM) recently announced a grant award from the Child Welfare Society of Flint, Inc., to support the Mission’s Christmas Gift Program for needy children on Flint’s Eastside.
The $8,000 grant was awarded to help support the Christmas Gift Program during the 2026 holiday season. The Child Welfare Society of Flint is committed to supporting the community by assisting local organizations that assist families to meet their children’s educational, health and social needs.
“We are grateful to the Child Welfare Society of Flint for this generous investment in children in our community,” said Pastor Sarah Baker of Flint Eastside Compassionate Mission.
Baker added: “This support will help us make the Christmas season brighter for children who live on Flint’s Eastside through our Christmas Gift Program.”
Ten Flint women founded the Child Welfare Society in 1915. For the next 35 years, the Society provided residential care for children. Then they provided day care services at the Cedar Street Children’s Center, a facility constructed with funds raised by the organization for another 37 years. The center was among the first day care facilities in the area and helped make childcare more accessible by offering affordable services based on a sliding fee scale.
Flint Eastside Compassionate Mission is located at 1917 Delaware Ave. in Flint. Additional information about the 2026 Christmas Gift Program and opportunities to support the Mission will become available later this year as the holiday season approaches.
