Endangered 9-year-old boy found safe

Written by Tanya Terry

An endangered 9-year-old boy whose biological mother was thought to have taken him from his elementary school was found safe, according to Michigan State Police. His mother, Taleia Topp, is now in custody.

A court terminated Topp’s parental rights on December 14, 2022. They awarded the boy’s father, Lashawn Topp, sole legal and physical custody.

Investigators believed Taleia Topp was detrimental to her son, Leviante Davis Jr.’s safety and education. The 9-year-old was supposed to be taking asthma medication.

Originally, police believed Davis’ mother was taking him to the Chicago,  Illinois area. However, Davis was found in the Flint area on Tuesday, January 4.
