At approximately 10:24 a.m. on Friday, April 23, a silver 2002 Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound Clio Road with high speed. As the vehicle attempted to turn eastbound onto Welch Blvd, it began to lose control, running off the right shoulder. The driver attempted to correct the steering, causing the vehicle to rotate sideways while still eastbound, ultimately running off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then flipped several times before coming to final rest on Welch Blvd. near Seneca St. The driver, not believed to be wearing his seatbelt, was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.
The vehicle itself had just been reported stolen approximately 10 minutes prior from Mt. Morris Township, and the deceased driver was not the registered owner of the vehicle.
There were no other occupants in the vehicle, and no other injuries as a result of this crash.
Next of Kin could not be located or identified and therefore was not notified.
It is believed that speed is a primary factor in this crash. It is unclear if alcohol and/or drugs were also (a) factor(s) in this crash.
