First Annual Virtual African American Storytelling Festival to feature local storytelllers

The “New” McCree Theatre is proud to present its First Annual Virtual African American Storytelling Festival. This exciting venture will feature three local storytellers; Sharon Boone, Alfreda Harris and Breda Harris, all of Flint, telling their stories like nobody else can.

The festival is part of the theatre’s efforts to continue offering quality entertainment to its audience participants during the pandemic. The festival begins August 7 and runs through August 21. It is absolutely free.

Audiences can watch  stories on the “New” McCree Theatre Facebook page, Facebook.com/thenewmccreetheatre. The stories will be creative, interactive and educational.  They will be no longer than 15 minutes. The festival will include songs, craft, movement and opportunities for viewer participation.

The lineup consists generally of: Aug. 7 –Stories of how we got here, Aug. 14 –Stories of hope, character building and our heroes of history and Aug. 21 –Free Form; tell your favorite story. For details, call (810) 787-2200.
