MCC to Host Design & Manufacturing Alliance Conference Nov. 2

The annual Design and Manufacturing Alliance (DMA) Fall Conference will be held at the Mott Community College (MCC) Regional Technology Center on the main campus, in Flint, Friday, Nov. 2, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The conference will address Technical Career Pathways and Options with a focus on “Putting the T in STEM.” The keynote speaker is Mandi Damman, Chief Engineer for Autonomous Vehicles, General Motors, talking about how Career and Technical Education (CTE) was beneficial to her career success.

“CTE is critical to filling the number of openings in today’s growing economy,” said Dr. Angelo Brown, Dean of Technology at MCC. “A CTE experience prepares students for opportunities in various career pathways,” he said.

The conference will also feature CTE success stories and highlight currently available best practices, as well as include presentations on Michigan’s Marshall Plan for Talent, the MI Bright Future program, and best STEM practices in Genesee County. The event will also feature an area-wide student panel.

The DMA conference is free, but registration is required. Register at http://www.midma.org/registration.html

The mission of the DMA is to encourage and foster communication, networking, and partnerships among design and manufacturing industry companies, their professional associations, government, and all educators across Southeast Michigan.

The DMA supports educational networking with design and manufacturing organizations, their professional associations, and government offices to ensure accurate career information is available to educators and students. Additionally, that academic programs and curricula are developed that are appropriate to the skills required for the jobs that do (and will) exist in these industries in the future.
