The 3rd Annual Healthy Heart Awareness Event, held on February 16, was a tremendous success, bringing together the Flint community to learn about heart health and the critical steps toward a healthier future.
This event was especially meaningful to Dr. Tiffany Quinn, who raised awareness in honor of her late son, Kourtney Jones, who died at the age of just 31 because of heart disease.
Quinn’s goal is helping others prevent heart disease and take charge of their well-being.
The event featured Tarnesa Martin, known as Nurse T, who shared practical tips on how to maintain a healthy heart and discussed the leading causes of heart disease.

Martin’s insightful presentation covered vital information on healthy eating, staying active and the importance of regular health check-ups—all essential components in preventing heart disease.
Other major lifestyle factors that contribute to heart disease include:
- Smoking
- High blood pressure
- High cholesterol and
- Obesity
Event Highlights:
- Over 100 members attended
- Nurse T provided valuable tips that included lifestyle changes that can help prevent heart disease.
- Free giveaways, including wellness resources to all attendees.

Attendees of all ages enjoyed the recent Healthy Heart Awareness Event at Bountiful Love Church- but most importantly learned about heart health.
Jones’ memory inspires Dr. Quinn to continue to advocate for heart health, ensuring that others have the tools and knowledge to protect their hearts for years to come.
The event was made possible with the support of Bountiful Love Church. Their contributions were instrumental in spreading the message of heart health throughout the community.
Why It Matters:
Heart disease remains one of the leading causes of death, but it is preventable with healthier lifestyle choices. Quinn’s work to raise awareness, combined with the resources provided at this event, is helping empower the community to take proactive steps toward better heart health.
“Thank you to all who attended and helped make this event a success,” said Quinn. “We look forward to continuing the mission to promote heart health in Flint and beyond.”
