Deep Fried Pickle Project
            The Flint Public Library (1026 E. Kearsley Street) will present its 35th Annual Michigan Storytellers Festival, FREE Saturday, July 18, 2015, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., inside the Flint Public Library, 1026 E. Kearsley St., Flint. Hear wit and wisdom, nonsense and tall tales.  FREE This year’s nationally recognized master storytellers are La’Ron Williams (Ann Arbor), Judy Sima (Bloomfield) and emcee Jeff Doyle (Brighton). Our musical guest is The Deep Fried Pickle Project.
Activities include workshops for adults, teens, college students and the public. At9:15 a.m., La’Ron Williams will present “Changing Our Stories Can Change Our Lives.”This workshop will examine storytelling’s role in shaping our basic ideas and values. Participants will reshape existing fables and craft new tales that promote peace, justice, and positive social change. A workshop with Judy Sima will follow at 11 a.m. “Participation Plus.” Learn how to liven up your stories by adding actors, action, song, and interesting props as well as tricks for inviting your audience to join in and leave them begging to “do” it again.
Children and families are invited to participate in two programs with the Deep Fried Pickle Project;a musical instrument play shop at 12:30 p.m., and a “Kids Konsert” at 2 p.m.
Tellers will be offsite in the community sharing “Stories for Seasonsed Citizens” at1:30 p.m.; La’Ron Williams will be telling at Lockwood of Burton Retirement Community, 2073 S. Center Road and Judy Sima will be performing at Rosehaven Manor, 3900 Hammerberg Road.
The Michigan Showcase will feature storytellers, Gwen Lewis (Detroit), Joseph Remenar (Gladwin) and Alfreda Harris (Flint) in concert from 3:30-5 p.m.
The Festival finale is an evening concert with The Deep Fried Pickle Project, Judy Sima,
&La’Ron Williamsfrom 6-9 p.m.; for adults and children 10 years and older.
