YWCA Greater Flint hosts annual fundraiser, Circle Lunch featuring keynote speaker, Deborah Archer, President of the ACLU

FLINT, Mich. – September 19, 2023 – The YWCA Greater Flint is hosting its annual Circle Lunch on Wednesday, September 27, 2023; 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., at the Genesys Banquet Center in Grand Blanc. The lunch is the organization’s major fund-raising event of the year, sponsored by Attorney Matthew Norwood, Dort Financial Credit Union, Genesee Health Systems, Genesys PHO, Landaal Packaging, Mass Transportation Authority (MTA), Mott Community College Institutional Advancement and Stella & Frederick Loeb Charitable Trust.

The event will feature guest Deborah Archer, President of the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU).  Archer is a leading civil rights and civil liberties advocate, civil rights lawyer, writer and commentator. Her talks explore the intersection of race, civil liberties and the law — challenging audiences to confront America’s legacy of racism and injustice. She also helps audiences understand how systemic racism impacts all aspects of American life, from our workplaces and campuses to transportation, education, housing, economic opportunity, criminal law and more.

Event proceeds will benefit the YWCA’s programs, including its comprehensive Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Program that serves 2,600 adults and children annually, as well as the recently established Women’s Empowerment Center, which offers educational programs and services focusing on the areas of 1:1 coaching and support, life and leadership skill development, as well as leadership programs for middle school girls. Dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women, the YWCA is also expanding its racial justice and gender equity programming.
