Bratt Cassidy, detective sergeant for the Flint Township Police Department, told the Courier a Dec. 23 shooting that occurred in the Clovertree Apartments in Townhomes complex is still under investigation.

The shooting happened at around 7:20 p.m. on the 3300 block of Clovertree Lane.

Police received word a man had been shot in the parking lot of the apartment complex. That man was dead when police arrived. He was identified as 24-year-old Mikwannza Harris, of Flint.

The other man involved in the shooting was a 27-year-old man, who also was a Flint resident. Although he also suffered gunshot wounds, he was listed as stable at the hospital.

The preliminary investigation revealed an argument escalated between the two individuals in the parking lot which led to bullets being fired. Neither of the men lived in the apartment complex where the shooting took place.

Cassidy explained people tend to call for police to be dispatched more to apartment complexes like Clovertree than throughout the rest of the the township.

“Any time you have an apartment complex where there’s people living in the same spot, there’s more calls for service due to the number of people living in the same area. However, neither one of these guys actually lived there.”

Any individual with information regarding this incident is urged to contact Detective Minto at (810) 600-3250 or (800) 422-JAIL.
