Tree Lighting Promotes Unity, Honors Flint PD and Fire

Flint, Mich. – Mayor Karen Weaver along with Flint City officials and community organizations ushered in the holiday season with a tree lighting ceremony on Friday, Dec. 1. Trees were lit in front of City Hall in blue and red lights in honor of local police and firefighters. A tree was also lit in white lights to represent unity and peace.
“Progress is indeed being made in the city of Flint,” said Mayor Weaver. “This is a season of giving and sharing and it’s an ideal time for us to come together to celebrate our community and the joys of the holiday season,” she said.

Performances were given by the Flint Community Schools band and majorettes; the local choir Cho’Zen; Saxophonist Antwan Kirkland; and the Salvation Army Band.
