Featured photo: Gina Morton, Jasmine Morton and Glenn Key mourn the death of their loved ones in the house that caught on fire August 12, causing their deaths.

At 4:57 a.m. Thursday, August 12, officers received a radio call to 341 Burroughs, in Flint, for a house fire, with entrapment.  Upon arrival, officers located two victims inside the residence dead.  One victim was located and transported to Hurley ER and listed in critical condition.  Two other male juvenile victims escaped the residence and were transported to Hurley ER for treatment of smoke inhalation.  MSP Arson and Flint Police Detectives responded for investigation.  The fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature at this time.  The investigation is ongoing. The victims are as follows:

Victim #1- Daria Hill F/B 51 (Deceased)

Victim #2- Decarlo Key M/B/51 (Deceased)

Victim #3-Pamela Lockhart-Hard F/B/69 (Deceased)

Victim #4 Male Black/ juvenile

Victim #5 Male Black juvenile

Glenn Key is Pamela Lockhart’s brother and the uncle of Decarlo Key, who both died because of the fire, along with Decarlo Key’s girlfriend, Daria Hill. Glenn Key said it looks like it was an electrical fire, and the fire department believes the same. The fire burned up everything in the basement, according to Glenn Key.

“Most of the stuff in the basement is fried,” he said.

Lockhart, his sister, was known as “Pastor Pam.”

“She’d been doing a homeless mission for years,” Glenn Key said. “She did barbecues for the homeless every Labor Day until she had a stroke a few years back….She had a good 15 year run at that.”

According to his uncle, Decarlo Key was a fun-loving guy.

“He was a single father and doing a great job with that.”

Daria Hill was known as “DD.”

“She was as sweet as they come.”

Glenn Key said when things happen suddenly, it’s a hard pill to swallow.

“We’ll all feel the loss for years to come. Pam was quite a singer, and she was ‘Pastor Pam; until she got sick. Those things will be in my mind forever.”

Glenn Key had a special bond with his sister.

“That will always affect me. She just had a birthday recently. We all went out to eat, and we had a great time. But, no one could have prepared me for the fact that a couple days later she wouldn’t be here-that she would die tragically in a fire.”

Glenn Key said the loss of his sister hurts more than a “toothache,” in which the pain in throbbing. But, he feels it will get better as the days go along.

Glenn Key said it looks like there was a power surge, although the investigation is not complete.

“The wires running to the house are frayed, and with the weather we had last night (on the night of  August 11)-with a lot a thunder and lightening taking place all night long-that could have very well been the culprit of the whole thing. I see the meter is just fried completely.”

Glenn Key said the passing of a loved one is one of the toughest things to deal with.

“But, God will never put more on you than you can bear, and that’s the way I was raised at the church I came up in.”

(The church Glenn Key refers to is Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church, in Flint.)
