The New McCree Theatre, 4601 Clio Road, Flint, is reprising its signature musical, “Sincerely: the Musical Odyssey of an Original Moonglow,” May 9 – 25, 2024, with performances on Thursdays and Fridays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
“Sincerely” was originally presented at the New McCree Theatre in 2006 to sell-out audiences and critical acclaim. According to longtime theatre critic, Kathleen Kirby, “this show is much more than just a musical trek through the history of rock, soul, and rhythm and blues. It is an evening of nostalgia, comedy and terrific musical entertainment.” This musical, penned by the theatre’s executive director, Charles Winfrey, was considered cutting edge in that it defied the traditional musical theatre mold.
“Sincerely” centers on the true story of Harvey Fuqua, founder and lead singer of the 50’s doo-wop group, The Moonglows. More a revue than a plotted script, the play takes a wonderful trip through time beginning in the ’50s and coming forward through the decades. A cast of 30 of Flint’s most gifted performers will tantalize audiences with the more than 30 songs in the play.
General admission tickets for Sincerely are on sale now and can be purchased at the theatre’s box office, or online at www.thenewmccreetheatre.com. Call (810) 787-2200 if questions should arise.
