This event will take place at the Boys and Girls Club Flint from 3 -7 p.m., on Sunday, May 21. It is free and open to the public! The goal of the event is to educate and encourage Flint high school students on the importance of HBCUs and talk about the HBCU Experience.

The aim of the Flint to HBCU Forum: Unwrapped is to enlighten our community on various topics, including life realities at HBCUs, post-graduation experiences, debunking myths and highlighting the significance and relevance of HBCUs in our society. The event will consist of four fireside chats featuring eight current HBCU students and eight alumni, each representing different HBCUs. In addition to the panel discussion, there will be information tables exhibiting after-school activities and extracurricular programs within the city, and a few small business owners who are also HBCU representatives who will be participating.

The Floyd and Brenda Clack Initiative was created by their granddaughter, Hailee Clack. The FBC Initiatives’ purpose is to increase Flint’s college readiness rate, and to encourage, educate, and produce students of excellence from Flint and surrounding areas. This organization also has a goal to get students from Flint and surrounding areas to attend HBCUs, so they can make their mark in the community. Hailee Clack created this organization in tribute to her grandparents, who are also HBCU graduates. They both made huge contributions to educational leadership in Flint’s community, and Hailee Clack would like to continue to follow in their footsteps.
