Flint, MI – May 21, 2025 – The Gloria Coles Flint Public Library is inviting readers of all ages to join the excitement of the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge Kick Off Event on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at 1 PM on the library lawn. This family-friendly event will get everyone into the rodeo spirit with activities, animals and stories to inspire a summer full of learning and fun.
The Midwest Invitational Rodeo (MWIR) is galloping back into Genesee County Fairgrounds from June 13-14, 2025, and will visit the library for a special appearance! Guests can:
- Visit a Petting Zoo: Meet and greet farm animals like sheep, goats, bunnies, ducks, and chickens.
- Ride a Horse: Enjoy a true cowboy experience with horse rides for kids.
- Hear Cowboy Stories: Gather around for a special cowboy-themed story time with real life cowboy, Jordan Williams.
- Enjoy Music: Let the day’s energy soar with live music by Anthony Feimster, the library’s first inaugural artist-in-residence.
The Midwest Invitational Rodeo, also known as The Black Rodeo, celebrates and preserves African American heritage through the traditions of third-generation cowboys, carrying over 100 years of history.
