Small Business Assistance Program to assist low-to-moderate income business owners with access to short-term working capital

Genesee County has announced a county-wide small business assistance
grant opportunity! Genesee County has established the Small Business Assistance
Program to assist low-to-moderate income business owners with access to short-
term working capital in order to mitigate the impacts of revenue losses caused by
the COVID-19 pandemic and associated executive orders.

Grants will be available in amounts up to $10,000 and will be administered through
the Genesee County Metropolitan Planning Commission (GCMPC). Eligible costs under the grant include items such as PPE, supplies/inventory, staff payroll or wages and rent/utility expenses. Grant applications are
available beginning October 27 and until 5 p.m. November 13. Grant awards
will be eligible for costs incurred between March 16 and December 31.

“Small businesses do not only increase the tax base and provide local jobs for our
residents; they give our communities a sense of identity and provide one-of-a-kind
local services and products,” said Martin Cousineau, chairman of the Genesee
County Board of Commissioners.

“It is more important now than ever that we support our small businesses the best that we can,” Cousineau added.

Program guidelines and all related documents can be found at www.gcmpc.org/genesee-county-small-business-assistance/.
