Shelter of Flint launches online auction to support homeless services

FLINT, Aug 5, 2024 – Shelter of Flint is set to kick off an online auction on Monday, August 5, 2024, to
rally community support for its crucial services aiding individuals and families experiencing
homelessness in the Flint area.
This virtual event will showcase a wide variety of unique items and experiences, all generously donated
by local businesses and supporters. The auction promises an array of highlights, including a signed
baseball from Detroit Tigers legend Lance Parrish, a 75inch Samsung Smart TV and a Disney World
package for a family of four.
“We’re grateful to the business owners and organizations that have stepped up to donate items to this
auction,” said Shelter of Flint’s Vice President and COO Shelly Hoffman.
She  added: “Now we invite the community  to join them in their support by browsing, bidding, and buying so that, together, we can move ever closer to our vision of a community where everyone has the opportunity to live in safe, sustainable housing.”
“It’s my business to understand how important a home is. I honor and support the important work the
Shelter of Flint provides for Genesee County residents,” said realtor Jennifer Tremaine , who donated the
use of her conservatory for a Deer Widows weekend event.
Proceeds from the auction will help support Shelter of Flint’s comprehensive programs and services,
which include emergency shelter, permanent supportive housing, and street outreach efforts designed
to help individuals and families achieve stability and selfsufficiency.
Participants can browse and bid on auction items online from August 5 through August 26, 2024, with
winners being notified shortly after the event concludes. In addition to bidding, supporters can make
direct donations through the auction website.
