Search for Interim Genesee County Sheriff Underway; Dec. 2 Deadline to Apply

Selection Committee Searches for Interim Sheriff – Those interested urged to apply.

 With the recent resignation of Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell, the search for an interim sheriff is underway.

A committee of elected Genesee County officials has started the process of selecting a new sheriff to complete the final year of Sheriff Pickell’s term.  Michigan law tasks Prosecutor David Leyton, Clerk John Gleason and Chief Probate Judge Jennie Barkey with selecting his replacement.  This individual will serve on an interim basis until the 2020 election.

Interested applicants can visit www.gc4me.com and follow the link on the homepage to apply. All applications will be accepted through December 2, 2019 by 4:00 p.m.  Following the application deadline, all eligible applicants will be shared online and available to the public.  Then, a public interview of candidates will be held on December 23, 2019.  A full schedule and timeline along with a copy of the application are available on the website.
