Brooklyn-based glass artist Leo Tecosky will join the FIA Hot Shop crew for free public demos on August 2 & 3!
Acclaimed and honored for blending elements of graffiti and hip-hop culture with high-level glassmaking, Tecosky’s work pushes the boundaries in contemporary art.
The community is invited to catch him live at the FIA on Saturday August 2 from 11 .m. -4 p.m. and on Sunday August 3 from 1-4p. His work “ST1LL LIFE” is now on view in the FIA Contemporary Glass Wing.
Leo Tecosky works at the intersection of cultural and craft traditions in the pursuit of knowledge of self. With a BA in Fine Arts from Alfred University and an MFA from the School of Visual Arts, his work mixes deconstructed elements of hip hop with technical glass making processes. Tecosky’s the recipient of the 36th annual Corning Museum Rakow Commission, as well as the 2023 Maxwell/Hanrahan Award in Craft. Recent exhibitions were at the Brooklyn Museum and Cooper Hewitt with works in the collections of the Chrysler Museum and Flint Institute of Arts. Tecosky lives and blows glass in Brooklyn, NY
