Retired Genesee County Circuit Court Judge Archie L. Hayman, died at age 68 in his home after a lengthy illness.
A notice of Judge Hayman’s death on, which was posted on the website of the Lawrence E. Moon Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, stated funeral arrangements were incomplete as of publication time.
He worked as a defense attorney, serving as a district and circuit court judge. He later returned to private practice and served on the Michigan Civil Rights Commission.
The City of Flint referred to Judge Hayman as “a dedicated public servant whose impact on our city and its legal system will never be forgotten.”
Mayor Sheldon Neeley expressed deep condolences, stating, “Judge Hayman was a man of integrity, wisdom and fairness in our community. His legacy ill continue to inspire all including myself, and his loss will be felt deeply by all who knew him. Please keep his family lifted in prayer during this difficult time.”
According to the City, Judge Hayman’s commitment to education and lifelong learning served as a foundation for his distinguished career in the legal field.
In honor of Judge Hayman’s passing, flags at all City of Flint buildings will be lowered to half-staff beginning Monday, March 17, 2025, and will remain lowered for one week, honoring his contributions, his service, and his unwavering dedication to the people of Flint.
