Food assistance
According to Kevin Washington, who gave an update from Michigan Department of Health and Human Services at a recent meeting of the Communications Team held via zoom, even those who do not typically qualify for the full amount of food assistance will receive a full allotment of benefits for the month of May. These benefits are being administered over a 10-day period starting May 18.

Genesee Health System tests at group homes, assisted living facilities, shelters and substance abuse treatment centers.
Sheryl Thompson, deputy director economic stability for the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services said testing will soon be available at Berston Fieldhouse.
She also said they would like to go into the housing complexes, such as Howard Estates and Evergreen Regencies.
“We’ve got to be able to go to those where they don’t have transportation in order get tested, and we need to go to where they are.”
More mobile vans will be needed to go to these areas, according to Thompson.
