Newly Renovated Genesee County Administration Building Set to Open its Doors August 11

County Departments to Close to Public During Move, August 1-8
Genesee County, MI — The Board of Commissioners has announced the upcoming transition to the newly renovated Genesee County Administration Building, a move that promises to enhance efficiency and accessibility for residents. To facilitate this transition, county departments will be closed to the public August 1-8, with regular operations resuming on August 11.
The new location, formerly the north tower of Citizens Bank, is located at 324 Saginaw Street in downtown Flint, conveniently located across from the UM-Flint Pavilion. This facility consolidates four former county offices into one central location, significantly streamlining operations and reducing operational costs. The county departments housed at the old Administration Building on Beach Street, which was originally constructed in 1969, will move to the tower along with the Genesee County Health Department, currently at the McCree Building, and the Burton Clinic. The Health Department will occupy floors 4, 5, and 6 in the 10-story tower.
“This is a monumental move for Genesee County,” said Delrico J. Loyd, Chairman of the Genesee County Board of Commissioners. “We could not be more excited about what this new facility has to offer our residents and employees. This new space will represent the best of Genesee County and ultimately serve as a launching pad for community and economic growth that will benefit all our residents now and into the future.”
Originally constructed in 1979, the building has 130,000 square feet of modernized space, renovated with the financial support of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds, general funds, and a generous grant from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation. The goal of the renovation was to create a welcoming and accessible environment for county services, reflecting the commitment of the Board of Commissioners to offer the best possible experience for the area residents.
“This is a new, long-awaited chapter for Genesee County,” Loyd said.  “By bringing so many of our services under one roof, we are confident that we will have higher-quality, more accessible operations while also taking a significant step toward ensuring the long-term financial stability of Genesee County. We are so grateful to our staff and community partners for the time, energy and resources that were brought to bear to make this possible for our community.”
Parking at the new facility will be available in the attached Riverfront Parking Ramp (with access from Beach and Union Streets), the adjacent Rutherford Parking Ramp and the Flat Lot on Saginaw Street. Street parking is also available.
The facility will be open to the public on weekdays from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. starting August 11.
Announcements related to the transition will be found at 1836 Place, the news and information site for Genesee County, at 1836-Place.org or on the county website at GeneseeCounty.gov
