WASHINGTON – Continuing a multi-million dollar campaign to boost Black voter participation and combat voter suppression, the NAACP today, on October 25, launched new ads in key markets across the U.S. The ads will air in media markets across Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, as well as three Congressional districts in New York and California. The ads come as we reach the final days before the election and early voting is underway across the country.
As with previous ads, the new radio spots will air across a diverse range of outlets including Black-owned channels, and run through Election Day. The first ad, ‘Michelle Obama’, features Former First Lady Michelle Obama telling voters to “do something” about the election and “vote like our lives depend on it.” The second, ‘Unite for Justice’, likens Black voter participation to superheroes fighting for justice.
“We’re in the closing days before the election and we are not leaving anything to chance to turn out Black voters this election,” says Derrick Johnson, President and CEO of the NAACP. “Weeks into early voting, Black voters are showing up in record numbers across the U.S. and we can not lose this momentum. We know what’s at stake for our future and our communities and we can’t back down now. This is our moment to stand up against any attempts to silence or suppress us by showing up to vote.”
In addition to the radio spots, a series of print ads will appear in National Newspaper Publishers Association (Black Publishers) outlets in key states as well as additional mobilization efforts, including supporting voters through their Voter Protection Hub, GOTV activations, Election toolkits, state Voter Guides, and more.
This campaign builds off of the NAACP’s multi-year effort to mobilize Black voters and started in North Carolina in October. The civil rights organization anticipates reaching thousands of eligible voters before the end of the election.
