Creating free, accessible and low-cost entertainment to families in the Flint community is very important to the organization. In addition to Flint, Communities First also shows films for Movies Under the Stars in Saginaw and Detroit.
“We’re thrilled to bring Movies Under the Stars back to downtown Flint—it’s a summer tradition we look forward to every year,” said Glenn Wilson, president and CEO of Communities First, Inc. “There’s something truly special about watching families gather on the lawn, enjoying a movie under the night sky in the heart of our city. This event is all about building community—bringing neighbors together to laugh, connect and make lasting memories. We’re proud to create welcoming spaces where everyone can feel a sense of belonging right here in Flint.”
The lineup for Movies Under the Stars 2025 is as follows:
July 11 – Inside Out 2
Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2” returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is undergoing a sudden demolition to make room for something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust, who’ve long been running a successful operation by all accounts, aren’t sure how to feel when Anxiety shows up. And it looks like she’s not alone.
August 1 – Toy Story
Set in a world where toys have a life of their own — when people are not present — Toy Story takes moviegoers on a fantastic fun-filled journey, viewed mostly through the eyes of two rival toys: Woody (Tom Hanks), a pull-string talking cowboy, and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), a heroic space action-figure. The comically mismatched duo eventually learn to put aside their differences when they’re separated from their owner, Andy, and find themselves on a hilarious adventure-filled mission…where the only way they can survive is to form an uneasy alliance.
*A Levitt AMP Flint Music Series concert will be held prior to the film on August 1st . The community is invited to join Communities First on the back lawn of Flint City Hall to watch Chambers/Deslauriers perform from 6 – 8:00 p.m.
Following the conclusion of the concert, the showing of Toy Story will begin at dusk.
September 5 – The Wild Robot
The epic adventure follows the journey of a robot – ROZZUM unit 7134, for short – that is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.
*On September 5 , there will be a free resource fair during the pre-movie party. Local organizations are welcome to join and are encouraged to register at tinyurl.com/MUTSFair2025.
