Middle and high school essay contest being held in celebration of Women’s History Month

In celebration of Women’s History Month, The SOUL CENTER 180 Consortium is proud to present History in the Making. This endeavor is a celebration that will feature women who are making a positive impact in our community; while allowing our young people to acknowledge and celebrate their modern day influencers.

The Soul Center has launched a communitywide easy contest open to students in grades 7-12. The purpose of this contest is to encourage middle and high school students to write an essay about a woman who currently impacts their life and whom they view as a good mentor or leader. The contest will run until March 22.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in both categories will be rewarded with cash prices. Essays must be 200-300 words for middle school and 300-500 words for high school students. All schools will be encouraged to participate. The winners will be announced on the “History in the Making” Virtual awards program where local poets and orators will be showcased. They will be notified by phone and with an official letter from the SOUL CENTER.

Sponsorship packages are available. Thank you in advance for your support. For more information call Vanessa Pringle (810) 893-2068 or Ann at (810) 458-3553.
