The new McCree Gospel Choir made their debut at a fundraiser for the McCree Theatre on July 26, 2025. They soulfully moved the audience with gospel love that had the audience up and praising the Lord.

The co-producers for the choir are Pat Hall and George Wallace, who is also the production director. Choir direction is by Glen Holcomb. So obviously, you know the choir is great!

Wallace explained that the choir grew out of a need to stay connected in fellowship between productions, to stay positive, to be of service and to minister to the Flint community.

Approximately 30 + persons performed. Guest soloists were Artie Dixon-Blake out of Mt. Zion and college bound Kevelin B. Jones III.

Everyone in the choir must have been in a McCree Theatre production in some way.

There was a dual purpose for the concert; it was an introduction to the choir and a fundraiser.

Hill cited the problems with funding cuts being experienced by non-profits in the entire nation at this time as a driver for the fundraiser. Hill explained: “we are looking to help ourselves” to stay open and continue to enrich the Flint community.

Pat Hill presented McCree’s Vice Chairman Dr. James O. Shelley with a check for $3,500, which had been raised that evening. She thanked the audience and all those associated with pulling together the production for their fundraising efforts.
