MCC to Offer Tactical Combat Casualty Care Course Oct. 11 & 12

Mott Community College Institute for Medical Simulation will offer a Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) course Oct. 11 and 12 at the Southern Lakes Center, 2100 W. Thompson Road, Fenton, Mich. The class runs from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Cost is $325 per person.

This course fulfills official certification requirements for EMTs, Paramedics, Police Officers and Firefighters. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a TCCC certification card, T-shirt, Combat Application Tourniquet and TCCC manual.

TCCC teaches public safety first responders (police, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and other first responders) the basic medical care interventions that will help save an injured responder's life until EMS practitioners can safely enter a tactical scene.

Casualty care in the tactical setting depends on the tactical situation, the injuries sustained by the casualty, the knowledge and skills of the first responder, and the medical equipment at hand. TCCC is structured to accomplish three primary goals: treat the casualty; prevent additional casualties; complete the mission by using a customized TCCC program designed to meet the principles of emergent trauma care.

Registration is due Oct. 6. Class size is limited, so early registration is recommended. To register by email, contact ims@mcc.edu, to register by phone call 810-762-5000.
